One day a friend said, “Why not make Incest Survivor Action Figures?” We laughed about it. It was a good joke. And the next thing I knew there was a box of found objects (wire, beads, buttons, paper) and a block of clay on my doorstep. So I told people the story, set out the materials, and all of a sudden people were intently creating “the girls” (as we fondly call them). All of the Action Figures are all in the book. They are strong, fierce, bold, provocative, powerful, life-giving creations. Those of us who know them actually think of them as super heroes; but they are modest about their powers.
